Breaking News: ATTENTION ALL KHS STUDENTS, PARENTS, AND STAFF

By Chase Snider

Springfield, Missouri – Late breaking news coming from the Kickapoo Administration. PN Media learned via a staff e-mail sent by Kickapoo Principal, Dave Schmitz, that the first day of school, Tuesday August 24, will come with a major change for all students. According to the memo over 140 classes were full or overcrowded as of last weekend. Kickapoo administration and counseling staff worked above and beyond to try and resolve any possible conflicts. Due to the last minute changes in many students’ schedules, STUDENTS DO NOT REPORT TO FIRST BLOCK TOMORROW UNTIL RECEIVING THEIR NEW SCHEDULE, TUESDAY AUGUST 24.

Students are to report to the following designated areas tomorrow after 7:30 -
*         Seniors:  Courtyard

*         Juniors:  Auditorium

*         Sophomores:  Main Gym (east side)

*         Freshmen:  Main Gym (west side)

Students arriving before 7:30 a.m. should report to the cafeteria and wait to be released. Kickapoo staff will be assisting with directing students to the appropriate areas tomorrow morning. An AlertNow message will also be sent out this evening to Kickapoo parents on the communication list to help clarify plans for tomorrow.

Kickapoo released the following information to make your first day an easier process:
Classes begin on Tuesday, August 24th at 7:50 a.m. and will dismiss at 2:58 p.m.

• Students should not arrive prior to 7:00 a.m. each morning. All students arriving prior to 7:30 a.m. are to report to the cafeteria, where supervision is provided.

• Recent changes to our master schedule require that all students receive new course schedules. Minimal changes will occur to your schedule, but it is important to pick up your schedule at designated locations after 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 24th.
