Newton vs Brents Round 2

By Alex Brown

Last Thursday marked the second game in the Ryan Newton, Jake Brents saga. While the crowd numbers paled in comparison with the first game, a substantial number of students and even some faculty showed up.

“The game was pretty wild and the crowd was just yelling,” junior, and referee, Chris Underwood said.

Underwood again helped in the officiating of the game in which Newton won 21-20.

“It was pretty close, but my three’s were dropping like flies,” Newton said.

Brents had the commanding lead throughout a majority of the game, but allowed a Newton comeback that composed of three “bottom of the net” three pointers, with the last one winning the game. Motives have been brought into question and that some students are speculating that the game was thrown.

What started as trash talk on the social network Facebook, has developed into a happening that has many students buzzing.

According to Underwood, “Newton lives on. A game three is imminent.”
